
St. Cloud Rox Fall to Waterloo 6-4 to End Home Stand

St. Cloud, Minn. - The St. Cloud Rox fall in a tough 6-4 battle with the Waterloo Bucks Sunday at Joe Faber Field ending their first home stand of the 2013 season.
It was Teacher Appreciation Day at the ballpark as well as Coborn's Kids' Day where kids had the opportunity to run the bases and get autographs on the field after the game. There was a great crowd at the ballpark with an announced attendance of 2,102.
Tim Colwell (Jr., North Dakota State Univ.) was the lead off batter for the Rox Sunday earning a walk to get on base in the bottom of the first inning. Colwell then advanced to second as Devin Pearson (Fr., University of California) grounded out to the Bucks' shortstop. Carlos Leal (R-Jr., Delta State) also earned a walk putting two runners on base with one out for the Rox. Adam Martin (Jr., Western Carolina Univ.) was next up for St. Cloud as he hit a single to take a 1-0 lead over Waterloo.
The Rox would take a 3-0 lead over the Bucks in the bottom of the second inning. It was Blake Headley (So., University of Nebraska) starting the bats for the Rox hitting a single. Dustin Breshears (So., St. John's University) followed with a double. As Colwell was up to bat the Bucks' Tyler Peyton threw a wild pitch scoring Headley to extend the Rox lead 4-0. Colwell and Leal both earned walks and continued to round the bases off a wild pitch scoring Breshears from third base.
Waterloo posted a run in the top of the fifth inning off a sacrifice fly out to left field to make it a 3-1 game.
St. Cloud would come back in the fifth with multiple hits and scoring one run as Conor Keniry (Jr., Wake Forest Univ.) hit an RBI single to end the inning with a 4-1 lead.
Waterloo had a comeback as they posted two runs in the top of the sixth inning making it a 4-3 game but the Rox could not hold on allowing three runs in the top of the ninth to fall by a final score of 6-4.
Making the start on the mound for the St. Cloud Rox was Kyle Murray (Fr., Cal State Fullerton) pitching five innings. Jordan Talbot (Fr., University of California), Reese Gregory (Fr., St. Cloud State), and Adam Maxon (Jr., Jacksonville Univ.) all saw action on the mound during the game.
The St. Cloud Times Rox player of the game tonight was centerfielder Tim Colwell. Colwell went 1-for-3 with one run and made some huge catches in the outfield for St. Cloud.
The Rox (3-2, 3-2 North) are back in action on Monday, June 3 as they travel to Duluth to take on the Huskies for a 6:35 p.m. game time. St. Cloud will be back at home on Wednesday, June 5 as they welcome the Alexandria Blue Anchors to Joe Faber Field for a 7:05 p.m. game time.
