Bullfrogs Defeat Mallards in Extra Innings on Sunday

Green Bay extended its winning streak to three games by defeating the Mallards in ten innings on Sunday. The Bullfrogs were scoreless for seven innings but were able to tie it up in the eighth and ninth innings before notching a run in a third straight inning, pulling out a 6-5 win.
It was an early exit for Justin Mortenson (UW-Whitewater) who only went 1.1 innings for his first start for the Bullfrogs. Green Bay went through a group of pitchers throughout the afternoon giving Garrett Harrison (St. Cloud State), Luke Watson (UW-Stevens Point) and Derek Peterson (Gonzaga) a chance, before Michael Fain (Nevada) threw a scoreless tenth inning and claimed the win.
The hitting was quiet for the most part of the game besides the first inning, in which Jose Godinez (St. Norbert) drove in two runs on a double to right field where he would later score after an error by Sam Forkert (Marian) that would have ended the inning. For the next six innings, Green Bay's bats would be quiet until Tripp Martin (Samford) had something to say about it. Martin hit a bomb to left field to tie the game up at four. That wouldn't be the end of scoring as Trevin Sonnier (TCU) would tie the game up again in the ninth after getting hit by a pitch and stealing second to get in to scoring position.
After Sonnier's run tied it up to force extras, Tripp Martin did it again by walking to lead off the tenth and stealing second to get in to scoring position. A grounder up the middle that was mishandled by Michael Handel (Minnesota) lead to an errant throw to third that bounced off of the dugout fence allowing Martin to come home and score in walk-off fashion.
Come out to Joannes Stadium tomorrow night for game two of the doubleheader with first pitch scheduled for 6:35. It is Social Media Mondays with KISS FM and All Faith's Froggy Food Drive and College Fair Night out at Joannes.
