Spurs Roll to Victory over Knicks

LAS VEGAS - The Austin Spurs (11-8) defeated the Westchester Knicks (14-7), 99-88, on Day Three of the 2018 MGM Resorts NBA G League Winter Showcase.

NBA assignee Chimezie Metu led Austin to victory with 24 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Forward Ben Moore added a double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds. Reserve Jeff Ledbetter also tallied 18 points in 24 minutes. Austin went 1-1 at the Showcase and improved to 11-8 overall.

Down 12 with six minutes to go in the second quarter, the Spurs cut the deficit to three at the end of the quarter. The Spurs would outscore the Knicks 34-22 in the third quarter to take the lead for good. Austin also found a key advantage in points in the paint, outscoring Westchester 52-38.

Center Stephen Zimmerman registered a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds and guard Kadeem Allen netted 14 points and seven assists. Westchester went winless at the Showcase and dropped to 14-7 on the season.

Westchester will return to action when the team hosts the Capital City Go-Go for its next game on Thursday, Dec. 27 at 4 p.m. PT on ESPN+. Austin will visit the Salt Lake City Stars on Friday, Dec. 28 for its next game at 6 p.m. PT on Facebook Live.
