Warriors Come out to Play against Charge at Showcase

LAS VEGAS - The Santa Cruz Warriors (13-5) defeated the Canton Charge (7-10), 102-91, on the final day of the 2018 MGM Resorts NBA G League Winter Showcase.
Two-way player Marcus Derrickson led the Warriors to victory with a game-high 21 points and six rebounds. Kendrick Nunn added 18 points in 23 minutes off the bench. Santa Cruz went 1-1 at the Showcase and improved their overall record to 13-5.
Trailing by four at the end of the first quarter, the Warriors' outscored the Charge 35-16 in the second. Santa Cruz shot 60.9 percent from the floor, while their defense held Canton to 14.3 percent shooting in the period.
In the loss, guard Kobi Simmons posted 19 points and three assists. Reserve JaCorey Williams tallied 19 points and seven rebounds in 27 minutes. After losing both games in Las Vegas, Canton has now lost four consecutive games. Canton is 7-10 on the season with this afternoon's defeat.
The Warriors' next game will be on the road against the Iowa Wolves on Thursday, Dec. 27 at 5 p.m. PT, while Canton will be back in action against the Grand Rapids Drive also on Thursday, Dec. 27 at 4 p.m. PT. Both games can be seen on ESPN+.
