Reed's Go-Ahead Layup Gives Mad Ants Win over Lakers
December 22, 2018 - NBA G League (G League) News Release
LAS VEGAS - Davon Reed made a cutting layup with six seconds left in the game to give the Fort Wayne Mad Ants a 100-97 victory over the South Bath Lakers on the final day of the 2018 MGM Resorts NBA G League Winter Showcase.
The Lakers trailed 78-64 at the end of the third quarter, but cut away at the deficit by outscoring the Mad Ants 33-22 in the final period. The comeback however, led by Alex Caruso who had 15 points in the period, would come up short.
Fort Wayne guard Edmond Summer led all scorers with 23 points while forward Alize Johnson grabbed a career-high 22 rebounds in the victory. Caruso led South Bay in scoring (19 points on 8-10 from the field) while Justin Harper added 17 off the bench in the loss.
Fort Wayne improves to 9-8 for the season with the victory, while South Bay now stands at 9-11.
