Spokane Indians News Release
SPOKANE, Wash. - SPOKANE, WA - The offensive firepower avoided the Indians for the second night in a row, as the Hillsboro Hops topped Spokane 6-3 behind a strong pitching performance from the Hops' arsenal of arms. There were 6,471 fans on hand for Fireworks Night presented by Valley Glass, KHQ, The Big 99.9 Coyote Country, KXLY-AM 920 and The Current.
Spokane put together a small rally in the ninth after Tyler Sanchez doubled to advance Jamie Potts to third. A wild pitch allowed Potts to come home, and Leon Byrd's sac fly brought home Sanchez. Yeyson Yrizarri struck out to end the game.
Indians starter Joe Palumbo was pulled after 3.2 innings where he gave up four runs on six hits. 2013 returnee Jason Hoppe made his season debut and was on the mound for one unearned run and four strikeouts. Adam Choplick went two innings allowing one run on one hit. Omarlin Lopez finished the game for Spokane with a scoreless frame.
Cody Reed made his short-season debut for Hillsboro and did plenty to keep Spokane off the base paths. The 2014 second-round pick tossed four no-hit innings while striking out four hitters.
LaDarious Clark finished 1-for-2 with an RBI and two walks.
