Everett AquaSox News Release
EVERETT, Wash. - The AquaSox scored all their runs in the bottom of the sixth, including eight with two outs, rallying to beat Eugene 9-7 on Sunday, June 21, at Everett Memorial Stadium.
Everett's big inning got started with a double by Rafael Fernandez, and Jordan Cowan singled to move him to third. Fernandez scored on the next play as Braden Bishop grounded into a fielder's choice that got Cowan out at second.
Yojhan Quevedo singled to put runners on first and second, and Logan Taylor went down on strikes to give the AquaSox two outs in the inning.
That's when the bats really came alive for Everett. Alex Jackson clubbed a double to center and was brought home by Luis Liberato's big home run over the right-center wall. Arturo Nieto and Ryan Uhl singled and were brought home on Rafael Fernandez's following single.
With Fernandez on first and still two outs, Jordan Cowan came to the plate for the second time in the inning and launched a home run onto the home run porch in right field to give the AquaSox the lead for good, 9-4.
Alex Jackson finished 3 for 4 with two RBIs to lead Everett. Ian Happ was 2 for 4 with a home run and double, and Eloy Jimenez was 2 for 5 with four RBIs for Eugene.
The Emeralds would claw back into the game, but with the tying run on third in the ninth inning Kyle Wilcox was able to strikeout Kevonte Mitchell to end the game.
Everett will go for another win tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. Monday, June 22, in the series finale against Eugene. Tickets are still available in the front office and online at aquasox.com.
