(Kingston, ON) - Lucas Venuto scored a power play goal at 3:10 of overtime, giving the Spitfires a 3- 2 win over the Frontenacs before an announced crowd of 4,284 at the K-Rock Centre.

Markus Soberg scored twice and Brendan Johnston made 38 saves for the win, as Windsor (17-22- 1-0) made it two wins in three tries on their annual Eastern Ontario trip.

Soberg opened the scoring with his 8th of the season at the 9:38 of the first period, swooping in on the right wing during a 4-on-4 before beating Jeremy Helvig (30 saves).

Evan McEneny scored his first of two goals on the night on a Kingston (15-16-4-2) power play just 51 seconds later.

It was more of the same in the second period, as Soberg scored his second of the game, converting a nifty Jamie Lewis feed to give the Spits back a 2-1 lead they nursed until late in the third.

But again, McEneny answered, getting a seeing-eye wrister through traffic and past Johnston with less than seven minutes to play in regulation.

With the visitors tiring, Johnston made several big saves down the stretch and 16 in all in the third to get the Spitfires to overtime. That's when a costly too-many-men penalty to the Fronts set the stage for Venuto's heroics.

The 20-year-old, acquired on Tuesday, took a pass from Trevor Murphy and one-timed a blast past Helvig, emptying a jubilant bench.

Murphy (2A) registered his seventh consecutive multi-point game and has 11 points in his last five.

The win pulled the Spitfires within three points of Saginaw for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

The Spits are off until Thursday, when they host the Sudbury Wolves.
