Belleville Bulls News Release
OWEN SOUND, ON - Despite a winter wonderland in Owen Sound, just under 3000 fans packed the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre to take in the second and final meeting between the Belleville Bulls and the Owen Sound Attack on Saturday night. The Bulls continued to search for their first road victory of 2015 but came up short as the Attack opened the scoring early and never looked back on route to a 4-1 victory.
After two games in a row being postponed and rescheduled, the Attack wasted no time giving an anxious group of fans something to cheer about. Over age forward Erik Bradford, who was acquired for draft picks earlier this week potted his first goal in an Owen Sound uniform at 2:27.
The Attack were given a power play opportunity when the Bulls got caught with a bad line change just two minutes later but Owen Sound couldn't capitalize on their only man advantage of the frame.
Later in the period the visiting Bulls tested sophomore netminder Jack Flinn with a flurry of chances but the Halifax, Nova Scotia native kept the door shut. The home team led 12-11 in shots after the first 20 minutes of action.
A fairly back and fourth second period saw shooters from both clubs put a number of scoring opportunities on Graham and Flinn early in the stanza. The only goal of the period came at 14:34 when 1996-born right-winger Jaden Lindo wired a wrist shot over the glove of Graham to put his club up 2-0.
Both teams exchanged a power play each in the frame but neither could find the back of the net while up a skater. The Bulls took the lead in shots 23-22 at the sound of the horn.
The Bulls were the first to light the lamp in the final stanza when Stephen Harper potted a loose puck on the doorstep for his 9th of the campaign at 9:27. Over ager Brett Welychka and defenceman Jordan Subban picked up the helpers on the goal that cut the lead in half.
Owen Sound had an answer a few minutes later as their captain Zach Nastasiuk got behind the defence and slid his 21st of the year past Charlie Graham. The Attack would ice it with and empty netter from Santino Centorame at 19:07. Whitby, Ontario native Holden Cook and Nastasiuk were credited with the assists.
Graham made 27 saves while his counterpart Flinn stopped 35 shots. Shots favoured the Bulls 36-31. The Bulls drop their 4th straight contest and fall to 18-17-2-2.
