
Morning Skate: Bulls Look to Rebound in Owen Sound

OWEN SOUND, ON - A day after trade deadline day in the OHL, the Belleville Bulls continue their weekend road trip with a stop in Owen Sound. The Bulls were handed their third straight loss on Friday night and have now dropped to 5th in the very competitive Eastern Conference. The Attack, who currently 6th in the Western Conference, are losers of two straight and will also be looking to bounce back when the puck hits the ice for the second and final meeting between these two clubs.
Due to poor weather and travelling conditions, Owen Sound's home game against the Sarnia Sting was postponed and rescheduled to Sunday evening. The Attack dropped their first home game of the season last weekend, falling 4-1 to the Guelph Storm in front of just over 3000 fans. Winger Jonah Gadjovich was the lone goal scorer for Owen Sound. Georgetown, Ontario native Michael McNiven made 24 saves in the loss.
Owen Sound is led offensivley by Edmonton Oilers prospect Kyle Platzer who has notched 18 goals and handed out 29 assists in 36 games played thus far. 1995-born right-winger Zach Nastasiuk has also been a key contributor pitching in with 20 goals and 21 assists in 36 games played as well.
The Attack were fairly active before the trade deadline acquiring Liam Dunda from the Plymouth Whalers and overage forward Erik Bradford from the Ottawa 67's. Dunda, a 17 year old winger from Grimsby, Ontario has posted 2 goals and 3 assists in 21 games played this season. Bradford, a six food centre from Orangeville has buried 12 goals and picked up 23 assists so far this season. Both skaters will be in the line up for Saturday's contest.
The Bulls were shutout and heavily out shot by the Kitchener Rangers on Friday night. Starting netminder Charlie Graham allowed 5 goals in only 40 minutes of action but made 35 saves in the process. Rookie Connor Hicks made 16 saves in the 3rd frame. Kitchener forward Darby Llewellyn scored twice, including a short handed marker in the dying minutes of the 1st period.
Vancouver Canucks draft pick Jordan Subban leads all skaters in points with 15 goals and 18 assists in 39 games played. Centre Niki Petti has had a good start to the New Year adding a goal and 4 assists in 4 contests so far in January.
