Windsor Spitfires News Release
The Spitfires travelled over the Detroit River for a matchup in Saginaw to take on the Spirit! This was the third matchup of the season with each team taking one game. The Spitfires came into the game with the top powerplay in the league.
In the first period, the Spitfires struck first courtesy of Cuylle, 13 minutes into the game. Tyler Angle recorded an assist on the play. That was all the goal scoring in the first; shots were in favour of Windsor 16-6.
In the second period, halfway through the period, Playfair won a faceoff straight to Mcdonald who ripped a shot short side that beat the netminder making it 2-0. It was Mcdonald's 7th of the season. After two periods, the Spitfires led in shots 23-11.
In the third frame, teams traded chances, but the Spitfires shut the door. Corcoran added a late tally to increase the lead to 3-0. Kari stopped all 23 shots and won first star honours. The Spits had 32 total shots.
The Spitfires next game is home on Thursday, December 12th vs Saginaw, puck drop at 7:05 pm.
