Windsor Spitfires News Release
The Spitfires snapped a 4 game skid in Sarnia Friday evening with a big 7-5 victory.
It took a while for the games first goal but in the first period the Spitfires struck first. Michael Renwick scored his 2nd on the season with Johnston and Christopoulos drawing assists on the goal at 13:33 of the first. With just 8 seconds left in the frame Sarnia got a bounce and tied the game. The Spitfires doubled the Sting in shots 12-6 after the first twenty minutes.
In the second period the Spitfires sprung to a nice lead just like the night prior. Just 2 minutes into the period with the Spitfires on the powerplay McDonald scored to bury his 13th on the season. Exactly 8 minutes later Johnston scored his 12th on the season with Baisov recording his first career OHL point with the lone assist on the goal. Just 4 more minutes later the Spitfires were back on the powerplay again and it was McDonald with his 2nd on the night with both coming on the powerplay. Just like the night previous the Spitfires went up 4-1. Late in the period the Sting scored to make it a 4-2 game going into the 2nd intermission.
In the third period, the Spitfires added goals from Cuylle his team leading 18th and DeAngelis got his 2nd which turned out to be the game winning goal. There was quite the scare for Spitfire fans as they saw Sarnia score 3 unanswered goals with 2 coming on the powerplay all within the last 5 minutes of the game. However, 10 seconds after Sarnia made it 6-5 game Johnston scored his 2nd of the game and the Spitfires went on to win 7-5.
The Spitfires next home game is Wednesday December 8th when the Owen Sound Attack come to town. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30pm.
