Brantford Bulldogs News Release

HAMILTON, ONTARIO. The Hamilton Bulldogs returned to FirstOntario Centre on Friday night for a pair of home games on the weekend, but without the likes of Ryan Winterton, Lawson Sherk, Colton Kammerer and the first period loss of Artem Grushnikov, the OHL 's leading scorer, Brandon Coe was able to take over.

After a slow start for both sides to the contest, the scoring was opened with the teams 4-on-4 as Brandon Coe made his way to the front of the Bulldogs net and used his long reach to tuck the puck past Marco Costantini for his 12th of the season at 5:33. North Bay bubbled the lead to 2-0 just 47 seconds later as Kyle Jackson recorded a 4-on-3 power-play goal at 6:20. Despite the two goals against, Costantini stopped 12 of 14 shots in the opening frame keeping the Bulldogs in it.

The second period saw more heroics from Costantini, turning aside chance after chance for the Battalion, stopping all 12 shots he faced in the fame. Off the momentum from their goaltender, the Bulldogs found their legs and began to press the North Bay end. The pressure poured on culminated at 19:04 as Logan Morrison fed the puck out high to Nathan Staios, in turn finding George Diaco at the left of the Battalion net who tap danced through the slot and tucked the puck past Joe Vrbetic, for his 10th of the season getting the Bulldogs back in the game.

Back on the power-play early in the 3rd period, North Bay would capitalize after a point shot struck and felled Lucas Moore, Kyle Jackson spun the puck to Coe who recorded his 2nd goal and 3rd point of the game at 4:14. The Bulldogs wouldn't go quietly however, Moore would battle back and hold the puck in at the right point, firing a shot to the net tipped by Ryan Humphrey for his 7th of the year at 5:55 to pull the Bulldogs back to within one. The Bulldogs continued the press through the third period but a late frame rush from Matvey Petrov on the right wing dropping the puck to Mitchell Russell, filling on the Battalion top line for Coe who had been assessed 2, 5 & 10 for his instigating a fight, fired a shot just under the crossbar at 16:27 giving North Bay a 4-2 lead. One more into the empty net from Simon Rose would spell the end of the night for the Bulldogs dropping only their 2nd game in regulation in their last 11.

The Hamilton Bulldogs return to action on Sunday, December 5th, squaring off with the Erie Otters for the first matchup between the two teams in 787 days at FirstOntario Centre.
