WINDSOR, ON. It was a close game between the Spitfires and Otters but the scored board did not reflect that with 3 consecutive goals for the Otters in the third period.
In the first period the teams traded chances with the Otters scoring first just 1:57 into the game. The Spitfires responded just under 7 minutes later to tie the game. But the tie did not last long as the Otters scored just 40 seconds later to get the lead back. 4 minutes later Johnston scored his 7th of the season off a nifty pass from Cuylle and we were tied after 20 minutes of play.
In the 2nd period, the Otters scored two goals 4 minutes apart to take a 4-2 lead. The Spitfires had their chances but could not buy a goal. The shots were 27-19 for the Spitfires after 40 minutes.
In the third period the Spitfires shot out of a cannon. Johnston got his 2nd of the game off a wrap around after the puck got caught on the net just 1:07 into the period. Just 23 seconds later McDonald was given a gift by the Otters netminder who ringed the puck around the boards but could not get back in net before McDonald got his 2nd of the game. The otters capitalized on two powerplay goals and added an additional goal to take the game 7-4.
The Spitfires next home game is Sunday November 21st when Flint comes to town.
