The Saginaw Spirit Hockey Club and St. Mary's Medical Center are joining forces to promote youth literacy and asking for fans to help, too!

Spirit fans are encouraged to bring gently used children's books to the Spirit game on Sunday, January 30th at 2:00 PM. St. Mary's representatives will accept the books prior to the game for the hospital's ER Books program. ER Books puts children's books in the hands of young patients while they're waiting for procedures at the hospital.

Following the game, the Spirit and St. Mary's are welcoming the Cops & Kids program of Saginaw. Representatives of Cops and Kids will have children's books available for children to take home following the game, while supplies last.

During the season, Spirit players make dozens of appearances at community schools in support of youth literacy. Players read to students in the classroom as part of encouraging young people to enjoy reading.
