Michigan Native Mannino Joins Spirit from Spitfires

The Saginaw Spirit have acquired forward Tom Mannino from the Windsor Spitfires. Mannino is a 17 year old native of Farmington Hills, Michigan who has 11 goals and 16 assists in 41 games with Windsor this season. "Tom is a very skilled player who excels at all three forward positions," said Spirit Head Coach and General Manager Bob Mancini. "We expect him to contribute to our offense immediately."

The Spirit are sending forward Sean Courtney to Windsor, plus picks in the fourth and fifteenth rounds of the 2005 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection. "This was a difficult decision to send Sean to Windsor," said Mancini. "He is a talented young man who exhibited leadership on and off the ice for the Spirit. It is to Windsor's credit that they pursued a player of such character and ability."

Mannino will join the Spirit for practice on Tuesday in Saginaw.

The Saginaw Spirit, Mid-Michigan's Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Franchise plays 34 home games from September to March. The OHL is part of the Canadian Hockey League (CHL), which also includes the Western Hockey League (WHL) and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL).
