Spirit Snap Win Streak in Loss to Battalion

(Saginaw, MI) The Saginaw Spirit lost 3-0 to the Brampton Battalion Thursday night, breaking a three game win streak. Goalie Edward Pasquale earned the games second star with 34 saves on 36 shots. The loss to Brampton evens the season series between the two teams, with the Spirit beating the battalion 5-2 in their place on December 4th. The Spirit are in fourth place in the OHL Western Conference with 55 points and a record of 26-15-0-3.

Battalion winger Matt Kang tallied the first goal of the game at 16:19 in the first period, assisted by defenseman Ben Alavie. Brampton would secure the win with two more goals in the third period. Winger Evgeny Grachev notched his 25th goal of the season at the 17:19 mark, assisted by center Cody Hodgson. The Spirit would empty their net in the final seconds for an extra attacker but Battalion defenseman Brad Albert scored an empty netter to take the score to 3-0. Winger Scott Tanski and defenseman Josh Day assisted on the goal.

Spirit goalie Edward Pasquale tallied 34 saves on 36 shots while Battalion netminder Thomas McCollum earned the shutout with 23 saves on 23 shots.
