Belleville Bulls News Release
An Eastern Conference leading five members of the Belleville Bulls have been selected to represent the Eastern Conference at the 2009 Subway OHL All-Star Classic in Windsor from February 2-4. Goaltender Mike Murphy, defencemen P.K. Subban and Shawn Lalonde along with forwards Eric Tangradi and Bryan Cameron have been named to the Eastern Conference roster. Murphy, Subban, and Cameron helped the Eastern Conference to an 8-7 shootout victory over the Western Conference last year in Sault Ste. Marie.
"The Bulls organization is extremely proud to be represented by five players." commented Bulls General Manager and Head Coach George Burnett "It is a tremendous accomplishment for each player selected."
The Bulls coaching and training staff will also be participating in the All- Star festivities. Murphy currently leads the OHL in goals against average and save percentage while raking second in both wins and shutouts. The reigning OHL Goaltender of the Year has been named the OHL Goaltender of the Month twice this season and recently set the Bulls all-time record for career regular season victories.
Subban and Lalonde both rank in the top ten in OHL defencemen scoring with 41 and 34 points respectively this season. Lalonde also ranks third with 13 goals and leads all OHL defenders with four shorthanded goals. Subban ranks fourth in the league with an impressive +29 rating and recently returned from the 2009 World Junior Hockey Championship where he won his second consecutive gold medal with Team Canada and was named a tournament all-star in the process.
Cameron and Tangradi are both currently among the OHL's top five scorers with 59 and 57 points each. Cameron also ranks third with 31 goals while Tangradi is second in the OHL with six game winning goals. Tangradi represented the United States at the 2009 World Junior Hockey Championship.
