
Spirit Fall to Bangor 3-2

The North Shore Spirit lost to the Bangor Lumberjacks 3-2 in game one on Monday night at the New Fraser Field in Lynn.
Kevin Pincavitch (5-1) picked up the win for Bangor pitching 8 2/3 innings striking out six and giving up two runs. Wes Crawford (2-2) took the loss for the Spirit, pitching five innings before he was relieved by Nate Beucler.
The Spirit could rally only five hits, one being a triple by Lynn native Yuri Sanchez. Sanchez was waved home on a Jason Startari sacrifice fly. The Lumberjacks scored one run each in the fourth, fifth and sixth inning. Newcomer Jason Lebron was 2-4 with an RBI that scored Schuyler Doakes.
First baseman Fran Riordan went 2-4 with a potential game-tying hit in the bottom of the ninth inning. Mike Tejada singled and advanced to second on a single by Frank Charles. Jose Castellanos pinch hit for Eddie Muth and was hit by a pitch, loading up the bases for Riordan. Spirit pitcher John Kelly was brought in to run for Charles and was called out at home plate on Riordan's single that scored Tejada.
Jeremy Sugarman (1-1) takes the mound on Tuesday in game two against the Lumberjacks. Sugarman will face Bangor's John Vigue (4-2). Tuesday is Citizen's Bank "Two for Tuesday." Show your Citizens Bank card at the Box Office prior to any Tuesday home game and receive 2 for 1 tickets. Fans must purchase tickets at the Box Office on the day of the game.
