Can-Am Canadian American League

Mariners Get Rall from Bangor

July 14, 2003 - Canadian American League (Can-Am) News Release

Bangor rookie left-handed pitcher Tim Rall was sold to the Seattle Mariners today after nine impressive starts in the Northeast League.

Rall, 23, is six feet tall and 200 pounds and resides in Lynbrook, N.Y. He won a spot on the Bangor Lumberjacks after attending the Northeast League's open tryout camp in Florida this March. Bangor chose him with the seventh pick in the tryout camp draft. Rall is a graduate of St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Laurinburg, N.C.

Rall is expected to report to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, the Single-A Midwest League affiliate of the Seattle Mariners in Appleton, Wisc.

College accolades for Rall include school career records for most appearances (120), innings pitched (300 2/3) and strikeouts (302) as well as the single-season records for most wins (11), set in 2001, and appearances (34), set in 1999 and 2000.

Rall has the third-best earned run average in the league (1.81) and a 4-0 record in his nine starts. He fanned 58 batters in 59 2/3 innings and earned Northeast League Pitcher of the Week honors this week.

"It is always great to see a player move up to a major league organization. This is a great opportunity for Tim and we wish him all the best," Lumberjacks general manager Curt Jacey said.

Tim Bausher of Berkshire is the other Northeast League player to be sold to a major league club since the season started. Milwaukee bought his contract May 27 after one start in the Northeast League.
