July 14, 2003 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Bangor Lumberjacks News Release

Bangor, ME- The Bangor Lumberjacks are proud to announce that LHP Tim Rall has been sold by the Northeast League club to the Seattle Mariners organization. Rall is the first player to be sold to a major league organization since the club moved to Bangor. Tim is expected to report to either the Mariners affiliate in the Midwest League, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, or the team's affiliate in the California League, the Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernadino.

A graduate of St. Andrews Presbyterian College in North Carolina, the 23 year-old went undrafted in the Major League Draft and tried out in the Northeast League open tryout in Florida in March. There, Lumberjacks manager Kash Beauchamp drafted him with the 7th overall pick.

Rall holds the SAPC career records for most appearances (120), innings pitched (300.2) and strikeouts (302) as well as the single season records for most wins (11), set in 2001, and appearances (34), set in 1999 and 2000.

For the Lumberjacks this season, Tim had been dominant compiling a 4-0 record with a 1.81 ERA, good for third in the league. He had struck out 58 in 59.2 innings pitched and had thrown two complete game shutouts this past week to earn Northeast League Pitcher of the Week honors.

"It is always great to see a player move up to a major league organization. This is a great opportunity for Tim and we wish him all the best," stated Lumberjacks General Manager Curt Jacey.

The Mariners will send Rall to either their Midwest League (Single A) affiliate, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in Appleton, WI or to their California League (High A) affiliate in San Bernadino, CA, the Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernadino, where he will be inserted into the starting rotation.

The Jacks return to Mahaney Diamond on Friday, July 18 to take on the first half South Division Champion New Jersey Jackals at 7:15 PM. Tickets are available by calling the Lumberjacks Ticket Office at (207) 947-1900 or by stopping in the Lumberjacks Pro Shop located in the Bangor Mall.
