Saginaw Spirit News Release
The opening period featured extremely fluid passing from both Western Conference teams; however the Spirit were able to advance first, by sliding one past Otter goaltender and Saginaw native, Devin Williams, on a tally by Buffalo Sabres prospect, Justin Kea, his 17th of the season, with an assist coming from Nick Moutrey. The first period ended Saginaw 1 - Erie 0.
After a great goaltending duel in the second, the Otters were able to score their first of the game on a fake-out shot, with less than a minute left in the period from Connor McDavid, his 20th of the season, assisted by Toronto Maple Leafs prospect, Connor Brown and J.P. Labardo. The frame ended with the score tied at 1.
To open the third period, the Spirit scored first on a rebounded goal off Eric Locke's stick, his 30th of the season, with assists coming from Spirit Captain and Chicago Blackhawks prospect, Garret Ross and Dalton Young. The Otters fired back with two quick goals, the first from Jimmy McDowell, his 11th of the season, assisted by J.P. Labardo and Dane Fox, followed by a tally from Stephen Harper, his 11th of the season, assisted by J.P Labardo and Dane Fox.
