
Strong Third Period Leads Otters to 4-2 Win

Saginaw, Mich. - Three third period goals by the Erie Otters helped them earn a crucial 4-2 victory on the road against the Saginaw Spirit Saturday night.
Justin Kea scored the lone goal of the first period for the Spirit with a power play goal at 11:56, as he slipped in a rebound off of a Nick Moutrey shot.
Connor McDavid tied the game for the Otters late in the second period as he forced a turnover in the Otters zone and used his speed to a create short breakaway, which was enough space to go backhand to forehand on the deke and slip the puck around the right pad of Jake Paterson for his 20th goal of the season.
The Spirit regained the lead 44 seconds into the third period as Eric Locke put home his 30th goal of the season.
The lead was short-lived, as Jimmy McDowell tied the game at two 57 seconds later as he drilled a wrist shot through Paterson from the slot for his 11th goal of the season.
The Otters took the lead on their first power play of the game, as Stephen Harper wound up from the high slot and beat Paterson top shelf through the blocker side at 2:59.
Devin Williams did the rest of the work in the net, as he made 28 saves in the game and made two big stops near the end of regulation on Nick Moutrey and Jason Shaw. Dane Fox's seeing-eye puck careened into the empty net from the Erie zone to seal the win with 12.7 seconds to go.
