
Spectacular 4th of July Fireworks Show

The Volcanoes will honor our nation's veterans on July 4 and 5 at Volcanoes Stadium as the Volcanoes take on the Tri-City Dust Devils. The 8th annual Patriotic Tribute will specifically focus on veterans of the Vietnam War and World War II, and will pay special tribute to heroes who defended the United States Embassy during the terrorist attack in in Benghazi, Libya in September, 2012.
Prior to the Patriotic Celebration, Volcanoes Stadium will also host the Futures Game on Friday, July 3, where 38 of the best young baseball players from around the state of Oregon will square off in a day-night doubleheader. The American and National teams - both entirely comprised of Oregon's rising stars - will play two seven inning games, the first beginning at 4 p.m.. A Home Run Derby and Speed Competition will take place in between games. The second game will begin at 7:15pm. Scouts from all 30 major league teams have been invited to the games along with many area college and university coaches. As an Official 50th Anniversary Commemorative site, as designated by the United States Defense Department, 50 veterans of the Vietnam War will be honored before the game on July 4 at Volcanoes Stadium, including Lt. Col. Bob Jeffrey. A native of Bend, Ore., Jeffrey was a prisoner of war for seven years and three months. Gates open at 5 p.m. and the ceremony will begin at 6 p.m.
The Volcanoes are also excited to announce that John "Tig" Tiegen and Mark "Oz" Geist will be in attendance, at Volcanoes Stadium, on Saturday, July 4. Tiegen and Geist, authors of 13 Hours in Benghazi, fought alongside Oregon native and US Navy SEAL Tyrone S. Woods, who lost his life, along with three other Americans including United States Ambassador Christopher Stevens, in the Islamic militants attack on the American Embassy in Libya three years ago. The book, a New York Times Bestseller, will be available for purchase and can be personally signed by Tiegen and Geist throughout the evening. Following the game will be a spectacular fireworks show sponsored by Les Schwab Tires.
Volcanoes Stadium will continue the Independence Day Weekend festivities on July 5 by honoring World War II veterans. Five veterans of the war will be honored on the field before the game. First pitch is set for 5:05 p.m.
Fans are encouraged to come out to the ballpark for both events as the Volcanoes thank, honor and salute the brave men and women who have and continue to defend our country.
