Late Inning Runs Cost Dust Devils
July 3, 2015 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
The Tri-City Dust Devils gave up four costly runs to the Everett AquaSox in the sixth inning after leading 3-0 and ended up losing the game 8-3 Thursday night at Gesa Stadium. A sac fly and hit by Austin Allen along with a run on an error by Everett (11-4) weren't enough for the Dust Devils (7-8), as the Tri-City bullpen was not able to hang on to an early lead.
Henry Charles and Peter Van Gansen, who each had huge games in last night's win, were the only Dust Devils in the starting lineup to not collect a hit during the game.
Ryan Uhl, the first baseman for the AquaSox, came up big in the sixth and ninth, driving in two runs on a single in the sixth inning and two runs on a double in the ninth, giving him a total of four RBIs on the night. Yojhan Quevedo added two RBIs to the winning effort. Luis Liberato was a big factor in the AquaSox win as well, collecting three hits on the night. The AquaSox were also great on the base paths, stealing four bases in the win.
Tri-City starting pitcher Brett Kennedy had a stellar yet short Gesa Stadium debut, giving up no hits and striking out six in three shutout innings pitched. Elvin Liriano, in relief of Kennedy, tossed 2 1/3 innings while giving up two runs and striking out four batters. Luis Hernandez (0-3) received the loss for the Dust Devils, pitching two thirds of an inning as well as giving up two runs on three hits.
Starting pitcher and Oregon State product Andrew Moore gave up two runs, none of which were earned, on three hits while striking out three in three innings pitched for Everett. Anthony Misiewicz (1-0) got the win for the AquaSox, going three innings while only allowing one run on two hits.
The Dust Devils and AquaSox return to Gesa Stadium for the final game of this three game series Friday night. There will be postgame Independence Day fireworks presented by Ranch & Home and it will also be $1 Family Feast Night presented by CO-Energy. Fans will be able to enjoy hot dogs, bags of chips, ice cream sandwiches and 12 oz. Coca-Cola products for $1 all night long! Walker Lockett (0-0) will look to get his first win of the season for the Dust Devils, while Luis Gohara (1-1) gets the start for Everett. Great seats are available but are going fast for tomorrow's game. Call the Dust Devils' office at (509) 544-8789 or go to www.dustdevilsbaseball.com to purchase tickets.
