Special Teams Sink Steelheads

Brampton Steelheads News Release
MISSISSAUGA, ON - The Steelheads continued their four game road trip as they visited the Plymouth Whalers for a Friday night showdown. This game would mark Cameron Zanussi's first OHL start, leading the way for the Steelheads on the first of three games in as many days.
The tilt started off quickly for the Trout, as Bryson Cianfrone had a breakaway opportunity, but was stopped on a great effort by goalie Alex Nedeljkovic. The game would then turn in Plymouth's favour as the Steelheads headed to the box at the 29-second mark of the opening period; Mistele would pick up his first marker of the game putting the Whalers up 1-0. Special teams opportunities would be exchanged by the teams through the period, with Plymouth finding another marker to make it 2-0. The Trout's power play would see some action as well, with the best chance going to Damian Bourne, however Plymouth escaped the period unscathed.
The Second Period started off with the Steelheads on the attack, and included numerous scoring chances. Unfortunately, Nedeljkovic was on his game, turning away a Sean Day breakaway opportunity, as well as an effort by Everett Clark. Mississauga's parade to penalty box continued to hurt them, and Plymouth was able to take control of the momentum with three goals to end the period.
The final period featured more of the same, as both goaltenders played a strong period. Unfortunately 7 penalties between the two teams would put a premium on special teams play with the majority of shorthanded time going to the Steelheads. Despite a couple of Brandon Devlin scoring opportunities, the Trout would not be able to find the scoreboard in the period.
Cameron Zanussi made 30 saves in his OHL debut.
The Steelheads will wrap up their road trip on Saturday night with a 7:05 matchup against the Windsor Spitfires. The Trout will return to the friendly confines of home on Sunday afternoon as they host the Saginaw Spirit at 2:00 PM. Great seats are still available by logging on to Ticketmaster, where you can purchase your tickets and print at home to avoid the arena lineups!
