Brampton Steelheads News Release

MISSISSAUGA, ON - Both sides of the matchup hoped to end losing slumps tonight in Windsor. After losing four straight, the Spitfires were looking to get back into the win column at home, while the Steelheads looked to pick up a W in the final game of a four-game road trip.

The Steelheads started the game strong and were the first to find the scoreboard. Bryson Cianfrone picked up the puck in the corner, walked out and fired home his second goal of the season over the glove of Spitfires goalie Brendan Johnston. The Spitfires fought to keep themselves in the game however, and less than a minute later, potted one of their own to even the score. Capitalizing on the power play, Windsor took the lead in the game for the first time. The Steelheads top three scorers would connect to tie the game with a power play marker of their own. Brandon Devlin netted his fourth of the year, assisted by Cianfrone and Sean Day.

The Steelheads started the second frame on the penalty kill. Although they killed off the chance, the Spitfires sustained pressure on Steelheads' netminder Spencer Martin, who would make a number of great saves. Four minutes in, the Spitfires would beat Martin and take their second lead of the game. Johnston made big stops denying Nathan Bastian and Everett Clark from scoring goals. Late in the period, with the Steelheads on the power play, Cianfrone emerged from behind the net and made a great play to pick up his third point of the night, assisting on Sam Babintsev's game-tying goal. The Trout would have to finish the second period the same as the first, on the penalty kill.

Midway through the third frame, Josh Ho-Sang would show off his speed moving around the Mississauga defence and potting a backhand shot over Martin. Less than a minute later, however, Babintsev responded with a backhand of his own; assists went to Cianfrone and Greg DiTomaso.

Time in regulation would expire, and this game would require overtime. Two minutes into the extra period, Windsor's Slater Doggett skated into the offensive zone and scored over the shoulder of Martin, giving the Spitfires the victory.

The Steelheads come home Sunday, October 26 after a four-game road trip to take on the Saginaw Spirit. Tickets can be purchased as part of a full-season package, a flex pack, or as part of a group! You can also beat the lines at the box office this season by purchasing your tickets online, and printing at home by logging on to Ticketmaster!
