Colts Deal for Defenceman
October 25, 2014 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Barrie Colts News Release
Barrie, ON- Barrie Colts General Manager Jason Ford announced today that they have completed a trade with the Saginaw Spirit.
The Barrie Colts acquire defenceman Brandon Prophet from the Saginaw Spirit in exchange for the Colts 3rd round pick in 2016 and 3rd round pick in 2017.
"Brandon brings an element of size and experience to the lineup. He is a mobile defenceman with a good stick and has the ability to be a good two-way defender," said Colts General Manager Jason Ford.
Prophet was originally drafted by the Saginaw Spirit in the 2nd round (32nd overall) in the 2012 OHL Priority Selection Draft. In his rookie campaign the Brockville, Ontario native was named to the OHL Second All-Rookie Team and also played that season for Team Ontario at the WHC U17 tournament.
"Brandon is still relatively young in the OHL, and has lots of time to work on his game and help the Colts moving forward," added Ford.
The 6'3, 202lbs defenceman has appeared in 131 career OHL games registering 6 goals, 29 assists for 35 points with a plus 2 rating. This past September he attended the Buffalo Sabres training camp.
Prophet will be in the line-up tonight for the Colts wearing #7.
