
Wolves Fall 6-4 to Petes

The Wolves were at home Friday night to take on the visiting Peterborough Petes at the Sudbury Arena. The Wolves and Petes were both looking to get back on the winning track, however the Petes would prevail. Friday night's game also marked the return of forward NICK BAPTISTE to the Wolves' line-up.
The Wolves had some penalty trouble early in the first period, but would strike first on a goal from Wolves' leading goal scorer MATT SCHMALZ. This goal marked Matt's 6th on the season, already surpassing his goal totals from last season. Shots on goal after the first were 14-8 in favour of the Petes.
In the second frame, the Petes tied things up for the visiting team just under 7 minutes into the period on a goal by forward JOSH MAGUIRE. The Petes took the lead 6 minutes later and would add a short handed goal and power play goal before the period would come to a close. The Wolves weren't giving up as JACOB HARRIS notched his first goal of the season with a minute and a half remaining in the second. After the second, the Petes led 4-2. Shots on goal after the second were 28-18 in favour of the Petes.
The Petes added two more goals to take a 6-2 lead in the second. However the Wolves still weren't going to give up as co-captain NICK BAPTISTE added two more goals before the game would close out. The Petes took this one by a final score of 6-4. Final shots on goal were 46 -30 in favour of the Petes.
For the Wolves, overage defenceman JEFF CORBETT notched 3 assists in Fridays' game as well as Minnesota Wild draft pick PAVEL JENYS. NICK BAPTISTE made an impact on his first game back by scoring two goal for the home team. BRODY SILK was named the game's third star.
The Wolves are back at it Saturday night at the Sudbury Arena when CONNOR MCDAVID and the high-flying Erie Otters make their one and only visit to the Nickel City this season. The Wolves will be paying tribute to the Late Fabio Belli prior to the game and a silent auction will be held to raise funds for this children's educational trust fund.
