Sparks Announce Official 2011 Opening Day Roster

Los Angeles - On Thursday the Los Angeles Sparks announced their official opening day roster for the 2011 season, their 15th WNBA campaign.
The final 11-player roster includes six returners from 2010 and five newcomers. Highlighting the returners are 2008 WNBA MVP and Rookie of the Year Candace Parker, four-time WNBA champion and all-time leading scorer Tina Thompson, two-time WNBA champion DeLisha Milton-Jones and the league's all-time assist leader Ticha Penicheiro. The Sparks waived center Courtney Paris on Thursday to finalize their roster.
Los Angeles opens the 2011 season on Friday, hosting the Minnesota Lynx at 8 p.m. PT at STAPLES Center. Fans can purchase single game tickets starting at just $10 online at LASparks.com, by phone at 877-44-SPARKS (772757), at the STAPLES Center box office and at all Ticketmaster outlets. The game will also be televised live in Southern California on PRIME TICKET and nationally via NBA TV.
