TULSA, Okla. (June 2, 2011) - The Tulsa Shock and Cox Communications have reached an agreement to televise four road games during the 2011 season.
The telecasts begin with the Shock's season opener against the San Antonio Silver Stars on Saturday, June 4 at 7:00 pm CST. The next telecast will be in Phoenix as the Shock take on Diana Taurasi and the Mercury on Sunday, July 10 at 5:00 pm CST.
The first two picks in the 2011 WNBA draft go head-to-head as number two pick Elizabeth Cambage and the Shock travel to take on number one pick Maya Moore and the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday, August 14 at 7:00 pm CST.
The final game on the schedule will be from Los Angeles as Candace Parker and the Sparks host the Shock on Friday, August 26 at 9:30 pm CST. See a listing of the games below.
All four games will be shown in both the Tulsa and Oklahoma City markets on Cox Channel 3, (dates and times are subject to change).
"We are extremely excited and pleased about the opportunity in continuing our broadcast partnership with Cox Communications in providing coverage for part of our away schedule to Cox subscribers," Shock President Steve Swetoha said. "This relationship is imperative for all of our fans as we continue to grow our brand within Tulsa and the state of Oklahoma. "
The Cox Channel's Mike Wolfe is returning this season as the television play-by-play voice for the Shock. Wolfe will be joined in the booth by Shanna Zolman-Crossley as the color analyst. Crossley was a member of the 2010 Shock team as a guard, averaging 9.7 points per game in the 30 games she appeared for the team. Crossley is sidelined this season due to a knee injury for which she is currently undergoing physical rehabilitation.
"Cox Communications is excited to again be a part of Tulsa Shock basketball this summer," said Tiffani Bruton, Cox Manager of Public Relations. "The Shock is a vibrant part of the Tulsa landscape and having these games on the Cox Channel will be a fantastic addition to our unique local programming."
