Silver Stars Announce Final Roster
June 2, 2011 - Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA)
San Antonio Stars News Release
SAN ANTONIO - The Silver Stars today announced that they have waived forwards Alysha Clark and Ashley Walker and guard Kelly Mazzante. The San Antonio roster is now finalized with 11 players.
The 2011 final roster consists of five veterans from last season, three WNBA veterans that were acquired in trades and all three 2011 WNBA Draft picks.
Returning center Jayne Appel, guard Becky Hammon and forward Sophia Young all received WNBA All-Star nods last season. It marked the sixth career All-Star nod for Hammon and the fourth for Young - who has been named to the All-Star team in each season of her career.
The team also adds perennial WNBA All-Defensive team honoree Tully Bevilaqua and 2010 WNBA steals to turnover ratio leader Jia Perkins. WNBA veteran Scholanda Robinson - who averaged 11.9 points per game for Tulsa last season - completed the offseason moves for San Antonio.
All three 2011 WNBA Draft picks, Danielle Robinson (sixth overall), Danielle Adams (20th overall) and Porsha Phillips (30th overall) remain on the roster heading into opening day.
