(SUGAR LAND, Texas) - The Sugar Land Space Cowboys set a record with a near-sellout crowd Saturday night at Constellation Field as they hosted the El Paso Chihuahuas.

The Space Cowboys had an attendance of 7,009 fans, which is their highest mark as a Triple A franchise. The previous record was set on June 10, 2021, with an attendance of 6,760, in a game which Houston Astros right-hander Lance McCullers made an MLB Rehab Assignment appearance.

Jonathan Bermudez fanned seven El Paso batters through five scoreless innings, but the Space Cowboys fell to the Chihuahuas, 2-0. Bermudez, who was named the Astros' 2021 Minor League Pitcher of the Year, set season-highs in strikeouts and innings pitched.

El Paso did all its scoring with a two-run homer from Aderlin Rodriguez in the sixth inning.

David Hensley extended his on-base streak to 26 games, which is the longest such streak this season in the Pacific Coast League. Hensley went 0-for-2 with a pair of walks. Hensley leads the PCL in on-base percentage (.438) and walks (22).

The Space Cowboys and Chihuahuas close out their series at 2:05 p.m. on Sunday at Constellation Field, with 2,000 fans receiving Mother's Day-themed Space Cowboys jerseys. Hunter Brown is slated to start for Sugar Land and El Paso has yet to announce a starter.
