Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release

The Sky Sox dropped their series finale tonight at Security Service Field, falling to Las Vegas by a score of 10-6.

A flurry of offense characterized the early innings as both the Sky Sox and 51s exchanged plenty of leads and runs.

Las Vegas kicked off the scoring with a two run first. The 51s leading off with consecutive walks, Brett Wallace's single loaded the bases for JP Arencibia, who plated the game's first run with an RBI single. With Brian Dopirak batting, Greg Smith uncorked a wild pitch allowing Luis Figueroa to score; 2-0.

The Sky Sox fought back in the bottom half of the inning, capturing the lead with an offensive barrage of their own. With a walk and two singles loading up the bases, Cole Garner launched a two-out double to left that cleared the bases; 3-2.

Las Vegas would square the game at 3 in the second before taking a 4-3 lead in the fourth. A game fraught with lead changes, the Sky Sox would retie the match at four in the fourth before recapturing the lead in the fifth, 5-4. Though the Sox extended their lead to 6-4 in the seventh, the Las Vegas lineup delivered a knockout punch in the eighth. With three doubles, three walks, and a single, the 51s plated five runners, taking a commanding 9-6 advantage.

Las Vegas would add one more run in the ninth before Jesse Carlson closed the night with a scoreless ninth; 10-6.
