The Miners took the lead for the first time in the series in the bottom of the fifth inning. Aaron Gates singled to lead off the inning. He went to second on a groundout to Crushers shortstop, Carlos Avila. Craig Massey then hit a triple down the first base line that went all the way to the wall. Gates scored on the hit.
