South Carolina Completes Weekend Sweep with a 4-1 Win

Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, dropped a 4-1 decision to the South Carolina Stingrays on Saturday night at Allen Event Center. It was their third straight loss.

The Stingrays scored back to back in the opening period, 90 seconds apart, to grab a 2-0 lead. Grant Besse opened the scoring for South Carolina with his 8th goal of the season, and third goal in the last two games. Tim Harrison scored what turned out to be the game winning goal at the 8:37 mark of the first period for his second of the season.

"We just couldn't get much going tonight," said Americans forward Zach Pochiro. South Carolina made the most of their chances and we didn't."

Pochiro scored his fifth of the year for the only Americans goal. With the loss on Saturday night, Allen falls to 3-6-0-1. The Americans are last in the ECHL Mountain Division.

South Carolina outshot the Americans 39 to 25 for the game. The Americans are still winless at home with a record of 0-3-0. Allen went 1 for 6 on the power play while South Carolina finished 0 for 3.

The Americans return home next weekend to meet the Kansas City Mavericks at 7:05 pm. Allen will travel to KC on Tuesday for a 7:05 pm faceoff.
