South Carolina Stingrays News Release
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Washington Capitals, have announced the signing of forward Conor Lemirande to a standard professional contract Thursday. The 24-year-old recently finished his collegiate career at Miami University in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC).
Lemirande, a native of Janesville, Wis., has spent his last four seasons with the Redhawks, appearing in 140 games from 2014-18 while scoring 15 points on seven goals and eight assists. Standing at 6-foot-6, 250-pounds, Lemirande was an alternate captain as a senior this season and notched two goals and four assists for six points in 37 games.
Before college, the forward played one season for the Youngstown Phantoms of the United States Hockey League (USHL) in 2013-14, as well as two years with his hometown Janesville Jets in the North American Hockey League (NAHL), where he served as captain during the 2012-13 campaign.
Lemirande will wear No. 44 and is expected to be with the Stingrays for this week's series against Idaho.
In a separate transaction, South Carolina has also announced the release of forward Matt Salhany. In 20 games with the Stingrays after being acquired in a trade with the Reading Royals on Dec. 5, Salhany scored a goal and two assists for three points with four penalty minutes and a +1 rating.
The Rays host the Idaho Steelheads on Thursday and Friday at the North Charleston Coliseum. Both games are scheduled to begin at 7:05 p.m.
