Americans Win Sixth in a Row, Beat Rapid City 5-4

Rapid City, South Dakota - The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, beat the Rapid City Rush on Wednesday night, 5-4 at Rushmore Civic Center.
J.C Campagna broke a 4-4 tie late in the third period, scoring his first with Americans, to lift Allen to their sixth victory in a row. Campagna took a pass from David Makowski and fired a shot from the right circle scoring his 9th of the year.
"This was a big win for us said J.C. Campagna,". It felt good to get that first one. With the race so tight in our division, we couldn't let this one slip away"
Campagna now has three points in three games since joining Allen. Thomas Frazee also had a big game for the Americans, scoring two goals, his 12th and 13th of the season. Zach Pochiro scored his 15th of the year, and Spencer Asuchak extended his point streak to six games with a goal and an assist. Alex Guptill had two helpers.
"Give them credit, they made some big plays in the third period", said Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson. "We had some guys that didn't play very well tonight. We have to play smarter when we have the lead."
With the victory tonight, the Americans climb to within two points of third place Wichita, with a game in-hand. Allen also extended their lead to three points over fifth place Tulsa, with a game in-hand.
The Americans went 1 for 5 on the power play, while Rapid City was 1 for 3. Both teams wound up with 36 shots on goal.
The Americans return to action on Saturday night in Colorado. The club will play two games this weekend against the defending Kelly Cup Champion Eagles.
