South Bend Silver Hawks News Release
South Bend, Indiana (May 10, 2013) Your South Bend Silver Hawks are retiring the infamous veggies and replacing them with custom-made Three Stogies' themed veggies. The production of the 10 foot tall Three Stogies began in November 2012. The Three Stogies BroccoLarry, CurlyFlower, MoeShroom were fabricated by New York City company, Randy Carfagno Production, and are one of a kind. The company has worked with a number of major league teams such as the Washington Nationals, Arizona Diamondbacks, San Francisco Giants, Texas Rangers and many others.
"Part of the fun of coming to the ballpark is to see what new and creative ideas are being incorporated into the overall ballpark experience. Knowing that our fans love the Martin's Veggie Race we felt it was time to retire the old veggie costumes and make some unique improvements that will leave a fun and lasting impression, I am confident the fans will be pleased with the change. Minor League Baseball is all about the experience and the entertainment value and that is something we work extremely hard on throughout the season. This was a process that took many months and with the help of the Three Stogies licensing department we were are able to make this a reality." Stated Joe Hart, Team President.
The new Three Stogies veggies will be making their debut in the Martin's Produce race at the Silver Hawks' Saturday May 11th evening game during 5th inning. Your Silver Hawks take on the Whitecaps at 7:05pm. Call 574-235-9988, or go to www.SilverHawks.com, to purchase tickets to catch the biggest veggie race of the year! Saturday's game also includes a flat screen giveaway every inning, Refresh Wine tasting from Barefoot Wine and a team photo giveaway to the first 500 fans.
The South Bend Silver Hawks are a Class A minor league team affiliated with the Arizona Diamondbacks. The team is owned and operated by Swing-Batter-Swing, LLC whose sole shareholder is Andrew T. Berlin of Chicago, IL.
