
Lugnuts Top Dragons 7-4, Avoid Series Sweep

Dayton, Ohio-Lansing's Christian Lopes delivered a two-run double to break a 2-2 tie in the sixth inning and then added a home run in the seventh to lead the Lugnuts to a 7-4 victory over the Dayton Dragons on Friday night. The start of the game was delayed by one hour, 33 minutes due to rain. Lansing snapped the Dragons three-game winning streak and avoided a sweep of the three-game series.
The game was tied at 2-2 after five innings before Lansing scored four runs in the sixth. Lopes broke the tie with a liner to the left field fence to bring in two runs and make it 4-2. Lopes scored on Kellen Sweeney's sacrifice fly and Seth Conner added an RBI single with two outs to make it 6-2. The Dragons could nviot get closer than three runs over the rest of the night.
The Dragons collected 10 hits in the game. Brent Peterson, Robert Ramirez, and Wagner Gomez each had two. Junior Arias went 1 for 3 with a run scored, a run batted in, and two stolen bases. Ramirez extended his hitting streak to seven straight games.
Dragons starting pitcher Pedro Diaz (0-3) worked the first five innings plus three batters in the sixth and suffered the loss. He allowing six hits and five runs (four earned) with two walks and two strikeouts. Diaz pitched well until the sixth inning when he was charged with three runs without recording an out and being replaced by Wandy Peralta. Peralta tossed two innings, allowing two hits and two runs with two walks and one strikeout. Alejandro Chacin and Sean Lucas each followed with a scoreless inning for the Dragons.
The Dragons (12-21) open a new three-game series at Fifth Third Field against the Fort Wayne TinCaps (19-13) on Saturday at 7:00. Drew Cisco (2-2, 3.08) will start for Dayton against Fort Wayne's Zach Eflin (0-3, 5.48). All Dragons games can be heard on WONE Radio (980 AM) and via the internet at daytondragons.com and wone.com.
