Nashville Sounds News Release
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The following is a statement from Jeff Diamond, spokesperson for the Nashville Sounds, regarding sales tax legislation currently before the Tennessee General Assembly:
"We've decided to suspend our efforts to advance the sales tax legislation currently before the legislature. We've heard Mayor Dean's concerns and we believe that it is in everyone's best interest to take it off the table at this time.
"The big picture issue is the future of baseball in Nashville. There is great local interest in the Sounds as shown by over 30,000 fans in attendance at Greer Stadium for last weekend's series. The Sounds are concentrating on extending the current lease to provide an acceptable baseball facility in the near term while seeking a first class ballpark for the future of baseball in Nashville."
