Game Keys: Nashville starting pitcher Adam Pettyjohn silenced the Zephyrs bats through seven innings as the Sounds beat the New Orleans Zephyrs 7-3 on a hot Wednesday afternoon at Greer Stadium in Nashville. Pettyjohn earned his team leading tenth win of the season as he allowed just one hit in his seven innings of work. The Nashville starter had a perfect game going through the first 21 batters, with one out in the seventh inning Fernando Tatis laced a double into left field to break it up. Nashville scored a pair of runs in the second inning with Mike Rivera and Laynce Nix hiting back to back home runs for the Sounds. Nashville tacked on two more runs in the fifth and three more in the seventh to take a 7-0 lead. Dave Williams suffered the loss, The Z's had won his last four starts. The Sounds were led by Nix three hits on the day. New Orleans appeared to get shutout for the second time in three days when the Z's bats awoke in the 9th inning rallying to score three runs. Anderson Hernandez led the inning off with a single, Chip Ambres walked and former Sound Chad Hermansen smoked a three run home run. Nashville and the Zephyrs have split the first two games of the series and overall this season the Z's have won seven and lost seven to the first place team in the Northern Division. Pennant Race: New Orleans leads Albuquerque by 4 games with 20 to play ... The Isotopes lost last night to Round Rock and continue their series this evening .... Oklahoma has dropped five in a row and is 5 games back will play tonight against the Memphis Redbirds.... Game Notes: Anderson Hernandez singled in the ninth inning extend his hit streak to eleven games, Chad Hermansen homered in the ninth to extend his hit streak to 8 games ... .... The first pitch temperature on Wednesday was 103 degrees, the hottest first pitch temperture of the season, ironically the coldest first pitch temperature happened in Nashville on the second game of the season April 6th at 37 degrees ..... David Newhan was optioned from the Mets to the Z's and will join the team in a few days ... The Z's have never had a perfect game pitched against them in team history, and the last time New Orleans was no hit was in 1997 when Buffalo pitcher Bartolo Colon no hit the Zephyrs.
