Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK - The Express didn't lose any ground in the Pacific Coast League American Southern division Thursday despite scraping out just one hit in a 2-0 loss to Nashville (Milwaukee Brewers).

Round Rock, which lost an eight-game winning streak, held onto its 5 ½ game lead over Albuquerque, which dropped a 2-0 decision to Memphis earlier in the night. New Orleans also fell, remaining six games in back of the Express.

Sounds starting right-hander Ben Hendrickson held Round Rock hitless on one walk and nine strikeouts over six innings, at one point fanning six consecutive batters - two shy of the PCL record.

Hendrickson turned the ball over to Mitch Stetter in the seventh inning and Joe McEwing led off with the only hit of the game for the Express, a liner up the middle.

Jared Gothreaux allowed two runs on one walk, four hits and four strikeouts for Round Rock over 4 1/3 innings, suffering his fifth loss of the season. Relievers Steve Kent, Mike Gallo and Travis Driskill scattered two hits over the final 4 2/3 innings, but the Express couldn't manage a hit.

The two teams have split their first two meetings of the season, and Round Rock leads the all-time series, 9-8. Chris Sampson, who returned from a stint with the Houston Astros on Thursday, is scheduled to start for the Express in Game 3 at The Dell Diamond at 7:05 p.m. on Friday.
