ROUND ROCK - After more than two years with the Round Rock Express, Director of Baseball Operations and Outreach Kirk Dressendorfer is stepping down from his post to accept a position with Dell, Inc. effective Monday, June 26.

Current Media Relations Coordinator Avery Holton will assume Dressendorfer's role under the new title of Director of Communications.

Dressendorfer, a three-time All-American pitcher at the University of Texas, had served the Express as Director of Media, Public and Community Relations as well as Travel Coordinator and Round Rock Express Baseball Camp Coordinator. He also provided color commentary alongside Mike Capps for Round Rock home games on ESPN 1260.

Dressendorfer won 45 games for the University of Texas from 1988-90 and was inducted into the Longhorns Hall of Honor in 2002. He also served as captain of the USA baseball team in 1989. After being selected in the first round of the 1990 draft by the Oakland Athletics, Dressendorfer pitched for seven years in the Oakland and Los Angeles minor league systems and reached the Major Leagues with the Athletics in 1991, going 3-3 in seven games. Upon retiring from professional baseball in 1997, Dressendorfer spent 5 ½ years at Dell Computer Corporation, three of those in corporate sales and two as a project manager for a software development group. He will continue to serve as color commentator for selected Express home games.

Avery Holton joined the Express in May as the team's Media Relations Coordinator after an internship with the Houston Astros' front office. With Houston, Holton worked on various vital documents and was involved in several facets of the front office.

Before joining the Astros, Holton spent six years as a journalist, writing for such publications as Time Magazine and the Houston Chronicle. A four-time winner of the Houston Press Club's Lone Star Award, he covered the Round Rock Express for the Austin American-Statesman for the 2003 and 2004 seasons.

Holton attended the University of Texas at Austin as a Terry Foundation Scholar and graduated with honors in 2003. He went on to receive his Master of Arts in Journalism from the University of Texas' College of Communications in 2004 before moving to Fort Worth to work as a sports reporter for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
