HEADLINES: Another 1-run win for RedHawks ... Volquez starts tonight ... Arias going to Futures Game

TODAY'S OPPONENT: The New Orleans Zephyrs are the Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals. They have been a member of the Pacific Coast League since 1998. Last year, the Zephyrs finished 64-76, fourth in the American Conference Southern Division.

TODAY'S GAME: The RedHawks continue their nine-game homestand against New Orleans. This is their 72nd game this season, 33rd home game and sixth game against New Orleans.

LAST GAME: The RedHawks scored three runs in the seventh inning to beat New Orleans 3-2. SS Joaquin Arias tripled to bring home to tie the game at 2 and scored on an error to give the RedHawks the lead with two out in the seventh. Starting pitcher Derek Lee went eight innings and gave up two runs on five hits with a walk and four strikeouts. 2B Drew Meyer was two-for-three with an RBI for the RedHawks.

VS. NEW ORLEANS: The RedHawks are 72-59 against the Zephyrs since the two teams joined the PCL in 1998. They are 40-24 against them in Oklahoma City . Last year was the Zephyrs' first season series win over the RedHawks since 2001. The RedHawks are 5-2-1 in season series against the Zephyrs.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Starting pitcher Edinson Volquez makes his 15th start of the year for the RedHawks. He is Texas' No. 1 prospect according to Baseball America. Volquez has made five straight quality starts, during which he is 1-1 with a 1.91 ERA (7 ER/33 IP), 14 walks and 36 strikeouts. He struck out 10 in his last start and is currently third in the PCL in Ks, seven behind Tacoma's Francisco Cruceta. Lefty Andrew Good starts for New Orleans.

STREAKERS: Outfielder Laynce Nix is on an eight-game hitting streak dating back to June 11. He is 10-for-30 (.333) with a double, home run and three RBIs during the streak to raise his average from .262 to .274 (12 rise). Relief pitcher Erasmo Ramirez has not given up a run in his last seven outings (11.1 IP). He has given up two hits, one walks and struck out nine in his last seven outings.

JOAQUIN ARIAS: Shortstop Joaquin Arias has been selected to play in the 2006 XM Satellite Radio All-Star Futures Game. The game will be played July 9 in Pittsburgh, Pa.

STARTING PITCHERS: In the last 21 games, Oklahoma starters have eight wins. They have given up 38 runs, 35 earned over 122.2 innings (2.57 ERA) with 45 walks and 104 strikeouts. RedHawks starters have 13 quality starts in the last 21 games.

BULLPEN: The RedHawks bullpen has given up two runs in the last 10 games (0.64 ERA - 2 ER/28.1 IP). During that span, the bullpen has given up 12 hits, seven walks and struck out 28. The RedHawks bullpen ERA has dropped from 4.13 to 3.70 (.43 drop) in the last 10 games.

HOME SWEET HOME: Going back to July 22 of last season, the RedHawks are 40-17 (.702) at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark including 1-1 in last year's playoffs against Nashville. They are 39-16 (.709) at home in regular season games since July 22.

CLOSE GAMES: Twenty-seven of Oklahoma 's 36 wins this season have come by four runs or less, including 16 one-run wins. Also, 27 of Oklahoma's 35 losses this season have come by four runs or less. They have nine losses by one run, nine losses by two runs, five losses by three runs and four losses by four runs.

RADIO UPDATE: The RedHawks' flagship station for most games is KEBC 1340 AM. However, there are a few dates the flagship station will change due to scheduling conflicts. The RedHawks will be on AM 1000 KTOK June 24. They will be on KFXY 1640 The Score June 25.
