NASHVILLE, TN (July 17) - Nashville built a huge lead in the first 2 innings, and cruised to a 10-1 victory over the Storm Chasers on Tuesday night at First Tennessee Field.

The Sounds took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st, when Steve Lombardozzi tripled and scored on a groundout by Anthony Garcia.

Nashville broke the game open in the bottom of the 2nd, scoring seven times. Jorge Mateo walked, and Brett Vertigan, Melvin Mercedes, Ramon Laureano, and Steve Lombardozzi collected consecutive singles, making it 4-0. After a Beau Taylor walk loaded the bases, Anthony Garcia hit a grand slam, pushing the score to 8-0 Sounds.

Zach Lovvorn (L, 1-3) was charged with 8 runs, 7 hits, and 3 walks in 2 innings. He struck out 1.

After Josh Staumont threw 3 scoreless relief innings for Omaha, Anthony Garcia added to his big night with another home run in the bottom of the 6th against Eric Stout . It followed a Beau Taylor double, and extended the Sounds' lead to 10-0.

Frankie Montas (W, 2-5) tossed 5 scoreless frames for Nashville. He scattered 3 hits, struck out 3, and walked 2.

Jack Lopez put Omaha on the board with a solo home run in the top of the 8th. It was his 5th longball of the season.

Nashville took advantage of four consecutive walks from Sam Selman to plate another run in the home half of the 8th. Parker Morin (a catcher) made his first pitching appearance of the season, and ended the 8th with a pair of strikeouts and a groundout.

The Storm Chasers (41-53) continue the series in Nashville tomorrow night at 7:05. LHP Jake Kalish (3-4, 3.89) will throw for Omaha, while RHP Chris Bassitt (2-3, 6.10) will toss for Nashville.
