Sounders FC Selects Pair of Local Products in 2022 MLS SuperDraft

SEATTLE, WASH. - Seattle Sounders FC today selected defender Achille Robin from the University of Washington and defender Hal Uderitz from Seattle University in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas. Robin was selected in the second round with the 43rd overall pick and Uderitz was selected in the third round with the 72nd overall pick. In a draft-day trade, Seattle sent its first-round pick (20th overall) to the New York Red Bulls in exchange for a second-round selection (43rd overall) and $75,000 of 2022 General Allocation Money.

Robin, 24, enjoyed three successful seasons at Bowling Green which saw him score a PK to win the MAC championship in 2020-2021 season. He transferred to the University of Washington for his senior season that saw him make 21 appearances, 19 of which were starts while adding one assist. The Frenchman helped lead the Huskies to a second-place finish at the 2021 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship.

Uderitz, 22, was the only Redhawk to start all 11 matches in a shortened 2021 season, scoring one goal. In 2019 he started 21 matches and added three goals and three assists, scoring both in the WAC Tournament Championship and the NCAA Tournament. He was named to the All-Region Team in 2021 along with three other teammates.

Sounders FC continues to prepare for the 2022 season, kicking off the competitive calendar with a home-and-away series against F.C. Motagua in the 2022 Concacaf Champions League. Seattle plays in Honduras on February 17 before hosting Motagua on February 24 at Lumen Field. The Rave Green's 2022 MLS campaign begins at home on February 27 vs. Nashville SC.

TRANSACTION: Sounders FC trades the 20th overall pick in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft to the New York Red Bulls in exchange for the 43rd overall pick in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft and $75,000 of 2022 General Allocation Money. Seattle selects University of Washington defender Achille Robin with the 43rd overall pick in the second round and Seattle University defender Hal Uderitz with the 76th overall pick in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft.
