
Sounders FC Hosts Cascadia Rival Portland Timbers Saturday Night at Lumen Field

SEATTLE, WASH. -Following a 2-1 win over Austin FC at Q2 Stadium on Wednesday, Sounders FC hosts archival Portland Timbers on Saturday, September 2 on the Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at Lumen Field (7:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
With an expanded capacity crowd on-hand this evening, Sounders FC encourages fan to arrive early. There are a wide variety of matchday activities and prematch activations to enjoy.
Dating back to 1975 in the NASL, Seattle and Portland have met 118 times, with Seattle leading the all-time series 56-46-16. Saturday's match marks the 41st matchup in MLS play (including postseason), with the Timbers leading 17-15-8. This is the third meeting of 2023 between the two sides, with Portland winning 4-1 at home on April 15 before a scoreless draw at Lumen Field on June 3.
Tonight's fixture features two teams at opposite ends of the table, with Seattle looking to solidify a spot at the top of the Western Conference, currently sitting in third place, while Portland is seeking to move above the playoff line, currently 12th in the West.
Following Saturday's match, Seattle has a week off from competitive action before traveling to Texas to take on FC Dallas on Saturday, September 16 at Toyota Stadium (5:30 p.m. PT / Apple TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
