The New York Red Bulls (7-11-8, 29 pts.) will battle Philadelphia Union (13-8-4, 43 pts.) on Sunday, September 3 at Subaru Park. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, FS1, and New York Red Bulls Radio in English via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app, and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
Coverage on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV in English and Spanish begins at 7:30 p.m. ET. Steve Cangialosi will have the primary play-by-play responsibilities and will be alongside Danny Higginbotham on the English side, Adrian Garcia Marquez will have the play-by-play responsibilities alongside Francisco Pinto on the Spanish broadcast. Coverage on FS1 begins at 7:30 p.m. ET with Nate Bukaty having the play-by-play responsibilities alongside Tony Meola. New York Red Bulls Radio begins at 7 p.m. ET with Countdown to Kickoff, presented by Honda, hosted by Matt Harmon and Steve Jolley.
This will be the 35th overall regular season meeting between the New York and Philadelphia, with the Red Bulls holding the advantage in the series with a 14-12-8 mark. The Red Bulls defense has only surrendered 71 shots on goal in 25 matches which is the lowest in MLS this season. Before their last match, the Red Bulls had 12 consecutive matches, where they held their opponent to under 10 shot attempts. No team in MLS had a longer streak than nine since Opta began detailed data in 2010. Philadelphia are coming off a 3-1 loss to Toronto FC on Wednesday, August 30.
Midfielder Omir Fernandez leads the club this season with five goals across all competitions and he has tallied four assists. Fernandez tallied the assist on New York's goal in their 1-1 draw against Philadelphia Union at Subaru Park in 2023 Leagues Cup Round of 16 this season. The Bronx, N.Y. native has recorded a goal and an assist in MLS regular season play against Philadelphia.
Following Sunday's match, the FIFA International break will run from Monday, September 4 to Sunday, September 10. After the international break, New York will travel to Yankee Stadium for the third installment of the New York Derby this season against NYCFC on Saturday, September 16.
