Sound Transit Silvertips Hockey Returns to KRKO for All 2021 Season Games

EVERETT, WA - The Everett Silvertips (@WHLSilvertips), seven-time U.S. Division champion and two-time Western Conference champion of the Western Hockey League, announced their 2020-21 broadcast schedule today, continuing an agreement with longtime flagship partner KRKO 1380 AM / 95.3 FM as radio home of all Silvertips games and Sound Transit as presenting sponsor for their 16th season. The Silvertips will open the 2020-21 regular season on Saturday, Mar. 20 against the Spokane Chiefs at 6:05 p.m. Streamed opening night coverage will be offered for free via WHL Live, with full season packages and single-day passes available at https://watch.chl.ca/.

For all Silvertips home games, KRKO will function as the audio play-by-play provider for streaming coverage on WHL Live.

Mike Benton returns for his sixth season as play-by-play "Voice of the Silvertips" and 16th overall in hockey, and will be joined throughout the schedule with color analyst Justin Morrison, returning for his fifth season with color commentary and ninth overall on the air, previously as host of extended post-game coverage on KRKO. Veteran host Keith Black will serve behind the mic throughout the season for pre-game, intermission, and post-game coverage.

Each broadcast begins with familiar and popular 30-mintue pregame show coverage including an exclusive conversation with Silvertips head coach Dennis Williams. Listeners can connect virtually with Silvertips broadcasters, reaching both on Twitter at @Benton_Mike and @TipsATG which includes second intermission Q&A opportunities.

Silvertips audio coverage is also available to stream for free at mixlr.com/Everett-silvertips, providing live coverage of all games, instant replays, and additional programming.

The Silvertips Hockey Show, airing each Tuesday during the season live from Sporty's Beef and Brew in Everett, is on hiatus and is scheduled return upon a later date to be determined. A special Silvertips 2020-21 season preview show, hosted by Mike Benton and featuring exclusive conversations with Silvertips players, coaches, and management, is scheduled to air Thursday night at 7:30p.m. on Facebook Live and the TipsTV YouTube channel.
